English Classroom Series
Overview
This CPD video series has been designed to support the development of high-quality teaching and learning across secondary English classrooms throughout the trust. Released half-termly, each episode will showcase a short classroom clip drawn from practice within our schools, alongside a clear explanation of the teaching and learning strategy being used.
Delegates who sign up for this course will receive the clips via email on a half-termly basis, as well as any additional supporting resources and materials.
Our Aims
· Share effective teaching and learning strategies from secondary English classrooms across the trust.
· Provide practical, evidence-informed approaches that can be implemented in everyday classroom practice.
· Support teachers in refining and developing their pedagogical knowledge and classroom delivery.
· Encourage reflective practice through observation of authentic classroom experiences.
· Develop greater consistency in high-quality English teaching across the trust.
· Showcase and celebrate effective practice within schools and departments.
· Create accessible, manageable CPD opportunities through short, half-termly video releases.
· Strengthen a culture of ongoing professional learning and continuous improvement across the trust.
Course Leader
Michelle Archbold
Strategic Lead for English across the ALP trust
Michelle Archbold is the Strategic Lead for English across the ALP trust. She has been an English teacher for eleven years within ALP. She originally joined Parkside Academy in 2014 as an NQT and progressed through various roles before becoming Subject Leader for English in 2020. She has previously led on Communication whole school and across the trust. She is also an English Language marker for AQA and has been for many years. In her role as Strategic Lead for English, she has supported many schools with aspects such as curriculum improvement, KS4 raising achievement and staff development.
