Principles of Teaching & Learning
Welcome to our Teaching hub, where our Principles of Teaching and Learning are at the heart of everything we do.
Clarity and Cohesion
Our commitment to excellence in education is driven by a set of core principles that guide our approach to teaching and learning across our schools. These principles ensure that every student receives the highest quality education, tailored to their individual needs and aspirations. Our principles are based on the best available research, as outlined in the Great Teaching Toolkit. We work collaboratively with colleagues at Evidence Based Education to develop teacher knowledge and understanding of our principles so that they impact on learning for our children every lesson, every day.
Implementation
Our Trust Principles for Teaching and Learning are used by school leaders to support them in evaluating and developing the quality of teaching and identify precise goals which support staff to build knowledge, develop teaching techniques and embed effective practice. Our principles provide clarity and consistency about what constitutes effective teaching and provide a toolkit to evaluate practice and diagnose areas of strength and aspects to develop.
At ALP, we know that effective teaching is the foundation of students’ success. Our teachers are dedicated to creating engaging and inclusive learning environments that foster curiosity, critical thinking, and a love for learning. We prioritise professional development and continuous improvement, ensuring that our teachers are equipped with the latest pedagogical strategies and tools to support student achievement.
Collaboration and innovation are key components of our teaching philosophy. We encourage our schools to work together, sharing best practices and resources to enhance the educational experience for all students. By embracing new technologies and methodologies, we strive to prepare our students for the challenges of the future, empowering them to become confident, capable, and compassionate individuals.
“The best available evidence indicates that great teaching is the most important lever schools have to improve pupil attainment.” – EEF
