SEND
Sensory Awareness
Overview
This session is designed to help attendees understand the significant impact that sensory processing and sensory integration difficulties can have on a child’s ability to access learning and participate fully in the school environment. Participants will learn to recognise the observable signs of sensory differences and gain a deeper understanding of how these may influence behaviour, emotional regulation, attention, and engagement.
The training aims to increase staff confidence in identifying potential sensory factors underlying distress, dysregulation, or barriers to participation. It will also explore practical, effective strategies for responding to individual needs and creating a more sensory-inclusive environment that supports wellbeing, learning, and successful participation for all students.
Our Aims
- Empower teachers to strengthen their pedagogical practice, ensuring high-quality, inclusive, and adaptive teaching that meets the diverse needs of all learners, particularly those with SEND.
- Create a culture of excellence in teaching and learning, with consistently high expectations for every pupil. Equip teachers to adapt their approaches to remove barriers, close gaps, and enable all children, regardless of background or need, to achieve their full potential.
- Develop teachers’ expertise through targeted professional development, academic research, collaboration, and the sharing of best practice, with a strong focus on adaptive teaching strategies and subject-specific pedagogy.
