Primary Maths Subject Leader Network

Overview

The Maths subject leader network will look to strengthening maths leadership and improving outcomes for pupils in Maths. We will take a shared look at curriculum coherence and consistent pedagogy, ensuring leaders have a clear view of progression and effective teaching approaches across phases. We will explore raising attainment in Maths through targeted intervention and inclusive practice, using diagnostic insights and trust wide collaboration to refine support for all learners. In addition, we will focus attention on deepening mathematical thinking, problem solving and challenge, helping leaders embed reasoning and rich tasks while planning sustained improvement for the future.

Our Aims

  • Strengthen curriculum coherence to ensure clear progression and sequencing across all phases.
  • Develop consistent pedagogy by shared instructional approaches and representations.
  • Improve assessment alignment through refining formative assessment to guide responsive teaching.
  • Implement targeted, evidence informed support for pupils.
  • Use adaptive teaching and scaffolding without lowering challenge.
  • Build systematic approaches to reasoning and problem‑solving.
  • Use data for improvement through the analyse of school and trust wide data to inform decisions.
  • Increase challenge for all by proving meaningful stretch for higher attainers.
