The Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Children and Young People’s Mental Health is designed to develop learners’ knowledge and awareness of mental health and emotional wellbeing in children and young people aged 5–18 years. It provides an understanding of common mental health concerns, the factors that influence mental wellbeing, and the support available to help children and young people thrive.

Launch event in-person at Advance Learning Partnership, subsequent workshops all held online.

Our Aims

The aims of this qualification are to enable learners to:

· Develop an understanding of children and young people’s mental health and emotional wellbeing.

· Gain knowledge of the factors that can influence mental health, including biological, psychological, social, and environmental influences.

· Recognise common mental health concerns and understand how they may affect children and young people’s learning, behaviour, relationships, and development.

· Understand the importance of early identification, intervention, and appropriate support.

· Learn about the roles of families, education providers, healthcare professionals, and support services in promoting positive mental health.

· Develop an understanding of person-centred approaches, effective communication, safeguarding, and referral pathways.

· Promote positive mental wellbeing, challenge stigma, and support inclusive practice across education, childcare, health, and community settings.
