Building a Strong Safeguarding Culture: Empowering Staff to Protect and Support Every Child
Overview
This safeguarding training focuses on empowering staff within the trust to take a confident, proactive role in protecting children and young people. It explores embedding a consistent safeguarding culture, ensuring up-to-date knowledge of statutory guidance and trust procedures. Participants will engage with key themes such as recognising signs of abuse, online safety, contextual safeguarding, and the Prevent duty. The session aims to equip staff with practical skills to respond effectively to concerns, promote a safe environment, and contribute to a whole-trust approach that prioritises the welfare and wellbeing of every child.
Our Aims
- Develop and refine staff understanding and confidence to identify and respond to safeguarding concerns with clarity and consistency across the trust.
- Share effective approaches to embedding safeguarding principles within school culture and day-to-day practice.
- Explore practical strategies for recognising and addressing emerging safeguarding risks, including online safety and contextual safeguarding.
- Evaluate and enhance staff knowledge of statutory guidance and trust procedures to ensure timely and appropriate safeguarding responses.
- Promote a whole-trust safeguarding culture that prioritises the wellbeing and protection of every child.
- Strengthen staff collaboration and communication to improve safeguarding reporting and follow-up processes.
- Embed continuous reflection and quality assurance to measure the impact of safeguarding training and practice.

Amanda Jackson
Leader of Children's Futures
Amanda Jackson is the Leader of Children's Futures at Advance Learning Partnership, overseeing personal development, careers, civic engagement, attendance and safeguarding. With over a decade of experience at Whitworth Park Academy in roles such as Assistant Headteacher, Head of Year and Subject Leader for PSHE Amanda is dedicated to professional development. She has completed various courses on RSHE, PSHE, Careers, Safeguarding, Attendance and Citizenship since 2017 and holds an NPQ in Senior Leadership alongside master's level modules in careers, achieving Level 7. Passionate about improving outcomes for young people, she now works full-time supporting schools across the trust.
