ECT Conference

Overview

Our ECT Conference is an opportunity for you to connect with colleagues from our ALP family of schools and to participate in bespoke workshops which are relevant to the stage of your training and development. During the Conference you will learn about our Trust training and development programme and you will meet our CEO, Kelvin Simpson, and other members of the ALP team who are committed to supporting you to develop the knowledge and skills that will set you up for a fulfilling and successful career in teaching.

Our Aims

  • Support you to access our bespoke ALP
  • Institute ECT training package.
  • Provide you with a toolkit of practical strategies to support you with adapting teaching in the classroom, led by experts from our SEND team.
  • Inspire you through a keynote from our guest speaker who started their career as an ALP ECT!

Catherine Hydon
Director of the Institute

Catherine Hydon

Catherine's areas of specialism are teaching and learning, professional development and leadership development for staff of all career stages. She is passionate about ensuring that staff receive high quality professional development and enjoys creating opportunities for collaboration which enable pupils and staff to flourish. 

Prior to her current role she worked as a Senior Leader and Subject Leader and she has over twenty years of experience of teaching secondary English.

Rob Kenmure
Advanced Skills Teacher for English across the Trust

Rob Kenmure

Rob Kenmure is the Advanced Skills Teacher for English across the Trust; he is also Lead Practitioner for English at Durham Academy. Rob is a Senior Examiner for AQA English Literature and has shared his expertise with colleagues across ALP through Subject Knowledge Enhancement courses and the ALP English podcast: The Outer Marker.
