Senior Leadership Training and Development
Overview
The Aspiring Senior Leaders Training and Development course is designed for ambitious and values-driven leaders who are ready to make the step into senior leadership. The programme has been developed to reflect the Trust’s unique vision of excellence, collaboration, and inclusive education.
Participants will develop the knowledge, behaviours, and practical leadership skills necessary to contribute to whole-school improvement, lead high-performing teams, and champion outcomes for all learners — especially the most vulnerable. The programme emphasises ethical leadership, evidence-informed decision-making, and system-wide impact.
Our Aims
- Deepen understanding of strategic school leadership within the context of ALP’s Trust mission
- Explore how to lead with clarity, compassion and confidence, ensuring equity and excellence across all areas of school life
- Gain practical experience in leading whole-school initiatives that drive improvement
- Strengthen ability to work across teams and schools within the Trust to build collective leadership capacity
Course Leader
Stuart Dixon
Headteacher of Whitworth Park Academy
With 26 years of dedicated service in education, Stuart Dixon brings a wealth of experience and insight to his role as course leader. Currently in his third headship at Whitworth Park Academy, Stuart has held a wide range of leadership roles including subject leader, assistant headteacher, deputy headteacher, head of school, and headteacher.
Since stepping into senior leadership in 2009, Stuart has consistently demonstrated a commitment to inclusive, values-driven education. He holds the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) and is currently completing the National Professional Qualification for Executive Leadership (NPQEL), further strengthening his strategic leadership expertise.
